Brigitte Ouellet , notre Présidente, détient un DEC en art du Collège Marie-Victorin, un BAC en études anciennes avec spécialisation en anthropologie, une maîtrise en histoire du Proche-Orient ancien et est Ph.D. en Histoire des Religions à la faculté de Théologie de l'Université de Montréal. Son vif intérêt pour l'Égypte ancienne a orienté ses recherches sur l'interprétation des textes de sagesse du Moyen-Empire égyptien. Chargée de cours tant à l'Université de Montréal qu'à l'Université McGill, elle collabore régulièrement à des revues spécialisées et est membre de nombreuses associations d'Égyptologie. Passionnée par ses études, elle revient d'un stage de perfectionnement en langue égyptienne à l'Université Saint- Mary's de Halifax et entreprendra bientôt un quinzième séjour en Égypte. Brigitte Ouellet, our President, obtained a DEC in art from the College Marie-Victorin, a Master of Ancient Near-East History degree and is a Ph.D. in the History of Religions at the University of Montreal. Her passionate interest concerning ancient Egypt directed her studies toward the translation of the texts of the wisdom of Middle-Empire Egypt. Responsible for courses at the University of Montreal and McGill University, she contributes regularly to specialized periodicals in her field and is a member of numerous Egyptology associations. Driven by her studies, she has attained proficiency in Egyptian language at St. Mary's University (Halifax) and will soon undertake her fifteenth tour of Egypt. Jean Revez, notre Vice-Président. Après un baccalauréat en histoire obtenu à Montréal où il est né, Jean Revez a fait des études supérieures en égyptologie à Paris et à Heidelberg. Il a effectué plusieurs missions archéologiques et épigraphiques en Égypte, à Mendès et surtout à Karnak, où il continue à collaborer avec la mission française permanente du CNRS et l'Université de Memphis. Il a été boursier postdoctoral du FQRSC, puis du CRSH, dans le cadre d'un projet de recherche du GRCAO de l'Université de Montréal. Sur le plan philologique, il a publié des textes hiéroglyphiques inédits (stèle 94CL1013 de Karnak et stèle du musée du Caire BN311). Anciennement chercheur invité au département d'histoire de l'Université de Montréal où il a enseigné, il a assuré des cours sur l'histoire du Proche-Orient ancien à l'UQAM pendant une dizaine d'années avant d'y être nommé professeur en 2007. Il est président de l'Association des études du Proche-Orient ancien depuis 2001.
Jean Revez, our vice-president,has been professor at the History Department of the Université du Québec à Montréal since 2007, after having been a lecturer there for many years, as well as a postdoctoral fellow in the History Department at Université de Montréal. Born and raised in Montreal where he obtained his BA in History, Mr. Revez did his M.A. and PhD in Egyptology at the Sorbonne (Université de Paris-IV), with Prof. Nicolas Grimal as his director. During that time, he spent four years in Heidelberg carrying out his doctoral research under the co-supervision of Prof. Jan Assmann. After completion of his doctorate in 1999, he obtained a postdoctoral scholarship from the Quebec and then the Canadian government to work in the Computer-aided design research group (GRCAO) at Université de Montréal, on a project dealing with the development of computer-aided devices for epigraphic and architectural surveys, using the temple of Amun-Ra in Karnak as case study. He has worked in Egypt on several occasions, as site supervisor in East-Karnak and Mendes and as co-registrar in charge of inventorizing the Cheikh Labib lapidary in the temple of Amun-Ra in Karnak. Since 2002 He has been a member of the Karnak Hypostyle Hall Project headed by Prof. Peter Brand of the University of Memphis.
